Welcome to Pete the Pond - Native Plants for Ponds
In 2000 I became the official Pond Warden of my local area, Willingdon and Jevington in East Sussex when I joined the Pond Warden scheme that was set up by BTCV and Southern Water to help save Britains ponds.
This started me on the road to building ponds and small lakes and also develop and grow native aquatic plants, which I now supply as part of my pond service.
As well as pond building I also renovate ponds by desilting and clearing them of unwanted weed and replanting with new home grown plants. I also clean up and replant the pond area creating the perfect pond enviroment.
For most of my clients I manage the ponds afterwards and I also teach Eco friendly methods of pond management and how to deal with problems related to your pond and pond area.
I offer Seminars for schools and clubs on pond life and the flora and fauna associated with ponds which helps our children learn how important and significant ponds are to our enviroment.
For a year I wrote a Blog on the Southern Water website and currently you can "Ask Pete" on the Alan Titchmarsh website.
To date I estimate that I have built and cared for over 60 ponds and have surveyed, paddled and waded in many more.
That’s why I have become known as... “PETE THE POND”
