Boship Farm Hotel, Hailsham, 2003
The Boship Hotel at Hailsham Project was undertaken with Clarity Estates as the main contractor in June 2003 and involved the clearance of the smaller front pond and at the back of the hotel a pond had to be desilted too.
It needed a lot of silt removed, so a large digger was brought in and a 5 ton dumper truck. First of all we had to remove the plants that were going to go back in, then the digger went in and then we were told that the site was needed for a wedding at the end of the week.
So once the pond was dug out, water was pumped back in with a large pump using water from the hotel swimming pool and the larger pond on other side at the front, then after refitting the bridge over the channel of the pond we came to replanting. With the native plants a total of forty species went back into this pond giving it greater biodiversity.
This was a four man project with the help of large machinery and was completed within four days, the client was happy as the black pond silt had gone and we were finished one day before the wedding!
A year later it looked great with the plants growing up.
